Student associations across the province are urging the College Employer’s Council and the Ontario Public Service Employees Union to get back to the bargaining table.
After two years of uncertainty due to the global pandemic, students are asking for a quick resolution to current contract negotiations that have been ongoing since July.
“Students have faced a wide array of challenges during the past two years as learning environments have changed. The student experience has diminished, and students are once again caught in the middle of contract negotiations," said Fanshawe Student Union president Ricardo Souza.
The union rejected the latest offer presented by the College Employer Council in January.
Since November, college faculty have followed a work-to-rule campaign, following their contract to the letter.
The last strike at Ontario colleges in 2017 lasted five weeks.
Students fear if a strike were to occur again it would diminish their education further and they will not get the quality education they paid for.
