Local COVID death toll up to 114

The local COVID death toll has increased by two.

In its daily update Tuesday, Lambton Public Health reported there have now been 114 deaths related to COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic nearly two years ago.

One individual was a long-term care resident in their 90s, the other a 70-year-old who died in hospital.

The health unit reported 34 new lab confirmed cases of the virus and 81 resolved cases, lowering the number of known active infections by 49 to 214.

There are seven outbreaks, up one from Monday.

There are 17 COVID-positive patients at Bluewater Health, down two, four of them are in the ICU.

Since March 2020, there have been 9,205 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Sarnia-Lambton, of which 8,877 have been deemed resolved.
