Mother-daughter duo grow health care business

Two Chatham-Kent women have stepped away from a franchise model and are currently operating a 100 per cent locally owned business that provides home health care services in southwestern Ontario.

Tina Hodgson and Dakota Hodgson celebrated the grand reopening of Neighbourly Care Home Health Services on February 18.

“As far as our customers will see, the change is really just in name only. We still provide the highest quality homecare and believe that it’s essential to treat each person as an individual, by listening to their needs and interests,” said Director Dakota Hodgson.

Some of the services offered include nursing and personal support health care needs. The business model allows for residents to receive a wide-range of services from injury recovery, respite care, and meal preparation.

“Tina and Dakota have been doing some amazing things by bringing much needed home health care options to the community,” said Chatham-Kent Mayor Darrin Canniff. “I am thrilled for them in their next step as a locally owned and operated Neighbourly Care Home Health Services and I am confident they will continue to provide exceptional care at home for individuals throughout Chatham-Kent.”

Manager of Economic Development and the Small Business Centre Jamie Rainbird also said it's exciting to see the two local women growing this business.

"We started working with them during their initial planning stages two years ago and have been there every step of the way," said Rainbird. “It’s a real success story thanks to the growing number of people they are employing in our area and also because they are helping to provide an important service.”

Neighbourly Care Home Health Services offers services in Chatham-Kent and Leamington.
