Man accused of hitting woman with his car during argument

A 22-year-old man has been arrested and charged with dangerous driving after he allegedly drove his car into a woman during an argument with her in Chatham.

Police said they were called to a disturbance on Park Avenue West at around 4 a.m. Wednesday and learned that the man had hit the woman with his car.

The woman was taken to the hospital for medical attention of undisclosed injuries.

The man accused of hitting her was arrested, charged, and taken into police custody.

Man accused of threatening his ex-girlfriend

A 51-year-old Chatham man is facing charges after he allegedly threatened his ex-girlfriend during an argument Tuesday night.

Chatham-Kent police said they arrested the man after they were called to investigate a domestic disturbance in Chatham.

Police said they also learned that it was not the first incident of domestic violence between the couple.

The accused was charged with two counts of uttering threats and was taken into custody pending a bail hearing.

Suspended driver stopped for speeding

A 28-year-old Windsor woman who wasn't supposed to be driving is facing a pair of charges after police stopped a vehicle that was allegedly speeding on Countryview Line Wednesday afternoon.

Chatham-Kent police said a member of the Traffic Unit pulled the vehicle over after seeing it travelling at a "high rate of speed" on Countryview Line between Prince Albert Road and Caledonia Road.

Officers said in addition to speeding, their investigation showed that the woman behind the wheel had been suspended from driving for unpaid fines.

She was charged accordingly and given a future court date.

No infractions during traffic enforcement around schools

Chatham-Kent police stopped three more drivers for speeding during a targeted traffic enforcement initiative in Chatham on Tuesday, but they didn't find any issues in two local school zones.

Police said they stopped and charged three drivers Tuesday morning on Longwoods Road.

They also set up around Lambton-Kent Composite School in Dresden during the lunch hour and in the Wheatley area Tuesday afternoon and didn't find any drivers speeding, disobeying stop signs or in Community Safety Zones around the schools during either of those initiatives.
