Three new COVID-19 outbreaks reported in CK

A trio of new COVID-19 outbreaks are being reported in Chatham-Kent -- two of which are in local schools.

On Friday morning, the Chatham-Kent Public Health Unit (CKPHU) reported an outbreak at St. Anne Catholic School in Blenheim and Winston Churchill Public School in Chatham. Both outbreaks currently have a total of two cases linked to them.

Meanwhile, an outbreak was also declared at an unnamed manufacturing workplace in the municipality where there are three cases.

Two outbreaks were also reported as "resolved" on Friday -- one at McNaughton Avenue Public School in Chatham and at St. Ursula Catholic School in Chatham.

As of Friday, there were eight active outbreaks in Chatham-Kent.

The number of active cases also continues to climb locally. The CKPHU logged another 15 COVID-19 on Friday, along with six resolved cases, bringing the active case count in Chatham-Kent up to 109.

The number of Chatham-Kent residents hospitalized with the virus also increased by one on Friday, bringing the total up to six.

Across the province, 1,031 new COVID-19 infections were reported on Friday, marking the highest daily case count in Ontario since May 2021.
