Spike in active COVID-19 cases

The active COVID-19 case count in Sarnia-Lambton has more than tripled in just over a week.

Lambton Public Health reported eight new cases of the virus Friday, up to 3,748 since March 2020. One more case has been deemed resolved for a total of 3,637, increasing the number of active infections by seven to 42.

The death toll stands at 69 and there are no outbreaks.

Bluewater Health has two COVID-positive patients in hospital, unchanged from Thursday.

To date, 74 per cent of Sarnia-Lambton residents 12-years-old and up have received two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine, 79.5 per cent have had one shot.
