OPP alleges 401 stunt driver was drunk

Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) in Chatham-Kent have busted a Brampton woman for allegedly speeding and driving drunk.

The OPP said an officer spotted a vehicle going 170 km/hr in the eastbound lanes of Highway 401 near Communication Road Thursday night. According to the OPP, the vehicle was stopped and while speaking with the driver, the officer suspected she had been drinking alcohol.

Police said the 28-year-old failed a breath test and was charged with impaired driving and stunt driving.

Her driver's licence has been suspended for 90 days and her vehicle was impounded for 14 days.

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Chatham on August 13, 2021.
