Former St. Vincent school in Chatham up for sale

Another former Catholic school in Chatham is now on the market for sale.

The St. Clair Catholic District School Board has listed the property of the former St. Vincent Catholic Elementary School, located at 9399 McNaughton Line, to the general public for sale.

The school board is moving forward with a request for offer (RFO) after there was no interest from an approved list of public sector agencies.  School boards are required to first offer the surplus property to approved agencies under Ontario Regulation 444/98 – Disposition of Surplus Real Property.

The property is approximately 6.6 acres in size. The single-floor former elementary school building is approximately 21,679 square feet, which includes 10 classrooms, a gymnasium, the main office, a library and a staffroom. The school was built in 1957 and additions were made throughout the years, with the latest being in 2006.

The surplus property is a result of the new St. Angela Merici Catholic School on McNaughton Avenue West, which opened in September, last year.

The school board said the former Monsignor Uyen Catholic School site, located at 255 Lark Street, will also be sold on the market once offering dates are determined.

Documents about the property can be found on the Catholic school board’s website. The submission deadline is at 12 p.m. on August 4, 2021.
