Border restrictions extended into July

Restrictions on non-essential travel between Canada and the U.S. will remain in place for at least another month.

Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness Minister Bill Blair announced Friday morning that restrictions will be extended until July 21. Restrictions were previously scheduled to lift on Monday.

"Our number one priority as we fight COVID-19 is keeping Canadians safe," said Blair over social media.

Blair also said an update on travel and quarantine measures for fully vaccinated Canadians is expected to be announced on Monday.

Border restrictions have been in place since March 2020.

As of Thursday, over 30 million vaccine doses have been administered in Canada.
