St. Clair College is holding virtual convocation ceremonies for over 5,000 graduates on Thursday.
Because of the pandemic, the ceremonies will be online on the college's website. There are eight sessions and all of them can be viewed at 3 p.m.
The schools represented Thursday are Academic Studies Chatham, Community Studies, Engineering Technologies, Apprenticeship and Skilled Trades, Health Sciences and Nursing, Media Art and Design, Business and Information Technology, and Ace Acumen Academy.
Students who earned an Academic Medal will also be recognized, and speeches from College President Patti France, Windsor Mayor Drew Dilkens, Chatham Mayor Darrin Canniff, and Minister of Training, Colleges and Universities Ross Romano are prepared.
In her address, France told graduates that they showed great perseverance in the face of adversity this year.
"Remarkably, through the pandemic, St. Clair has achieved our highest ever enrolment levels and staged several Convocations featuring our largest-ever graduating class," she said. "This week's ceremonies will add to those numbers, as over 5,000 new graduates will be added to our half-century of 120,000 alumni. We very much regret that, again, we will have to stage an online ceremony for these exceptionally dedicated students."
All students were offered the opportunity to submit a slide with a photo and quote to be included in the convocation.
