Weekly COVID incidence rate in Sarnia-Lambton drops

Sarnia-Lambton recorded a drop in the COVID-19 incidence rate last week.

Lambton Public Health reported Wednesday that the rate of infection per 100,000 population was 13.7 for the week of June 6 to the 12, down from 27.5 the week before. The positivity rate also dropped from 1.4 per cent to 0.8 per cent.

There were three new confirmed cases Wednesday for a total of 3,552. Of those, 3,466 are considered resolved, an increase of four. The active case count decreased by one to 24.

The number of outbreaks is unchanged at one. Bluewater Health has six COVID-positive patients in hospital, unchanged in the last 24 hours.

To date, 98,647 COVID-19 vaccines have been administered to eligible Lambton residents, including 19,137 second doses.

The Lambton COVID-19 Immunization Task Force said this week the region is expected to deliver 10,000 doses of vaccine to residents through clinics, primary care and the mobile immunization team.
