16 additional COVID-19 cases in London-area

Daily COVID-19 case counts continue to fall in the right direction.

On Sunday, the Middlesex-London Health Unit reported 16 new cases.

The region’s total case count is now at 12,350 with 132 known active cases, down from 154 the previous day.

No new deaths were reported in the region on Sunday, with the local death toll remaining at 221.

Another 17 variant infections were identified for a total of 3,141. There are 357 cases confirmed with a mutation-positive sample.

There are now no outbreaks being reported at local seniors' facilities after an outbreak at Kensington Village Retirement was declared over on Saturday. An outbreak at Simple Kids Child Care was also declared over on Saturday.

Across Ontario, provincial health officials reported 663 new cases on Sunday, which is the lowest daily case count since mid-October. As of Saturday night, the province had administered 9.9 million doses of the vaccine.
