Eleven students dismissed from Catholic high school

A group of students at a Windsor-Essex secondary school has been sent home due to a confirmed case of coronavirus.

The Windsor-Essex Catholic District School Board reported Thursday evening that 11 students at St. Anne Catholic High School in Lakeshore were dismissed after it learned of the positive case.

The students have been directed not to return to class when school resumes on Tuesday, following Easter weekend.

"We have been working with the health unit by providing lists of students and staff who may have been directly affected," said board spokesman Stephen Fields. "The health unit is contacting any individuals, both students and staff, who may have been affected, and will give directions for them to follow."

Voicemail messages have been sent to parents. If a child has not been identified as a close contact, they can return to school next week.

The English Catholic board is currently dealing with a total of five positive cases in five buildings.
