Workers at Toyota won't be heading back to work until at least May 4.
The automaker announced it has again extended its shutdown of all North American plants, including those in Woodstock and Cambridge.
"Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and decline in vehicle demand, Toyota is further extending the length of its production suspension at all of its automobile and components plants in North America, including Canada, Mexico and the U.S.," Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada said in a statement. "The manufacturing facilities will remain closed through May 1, resuming production on May 4."
Toyota's North American manufacturing operations have been shuttered since March 23 and had been scheduled to reopen on April 20 following two other closure extensions.
"We will continue to monitor the situation and take appropriate action in a timely manner," the automaker said.
Toyota's service parts operations and finished vehicle logistics centres remain open.
Two workers at the company's Cambridge facility tested positive for COVID-19 last month.
