UPDATE: High winds in the forecast

Windy conditions are expected to blow over most of southwestern Ontario this weekend.

Environment Canada issued a wind warning on Saturday afternoon calling for strong wind gusts across southwestern Ontario on Sunday.

According to the weather agency, winds are expected to strengthen throughout the day Sunday. The highest winds are expected to be ushered in with the passage of a cold front, where southwest winds will gust up to 80 kilometres an hour.

"This front will move through southwestern Ontario beginning Sunday morning and through the Toronto to Barrie corridor in the afternoon," read the statement.

Winds are expected to slowly ease on Sunday night into Monday morning.

Residents are reminded that strong winds may bring local power outages. Wind gusts may also toss loose objects or cause tree branches to break.
