Local YMCAs ready for staggered reopening

The Chief Operating Officer for the YMCA of Southwestern Ontario says the Ys in Goderich and Clinton are now in the process of re-opening after closing because of COVID-19.

It was announced this week that the Y in Windsor was closing permanently, but Mike Ennis said that is definitely not the case in Goderich or Clinton.

"We have re-opened Clinton and Goderich," Ennis said. "We're going on a slow, staggered approach in program areas, where we're starting with the fitness centre and then we'll open the pools and then other program areas, so each region is different and each partnership is different."

Ennis said each region and each partnership is different and in the case of Goderich and Clinton, they're partner is the municipality.

Ennis added they hope to have ice in both arenas in the near future.
