Additional COVID-19 death in Windsor-Essex

The Windsor-Essex County Health Unit reported a new death related to COVID-19 on Sunday.

The latest fatality brings the death toll in the region to 72.

There were also seven new cases of the virus reported on Sunday, all of which are residents of a retirement home.

Two retirement homes in the region are currently under an outbreak- one in Windsor and one in Leamington.

The case count now stands at 2,466, with 2,292 cases listed as resolved.

Across the province, 115 new cases were reported on Sunday, a 0.3 per cent increase over the previous day. The total in Ontario is now at 41,402.

According to Health Minister Christine Elliot, ICU admissions and the number of vented patients both continue to decline.
