GOJHL officially announces 2020-21 opening night

The Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League has officially announced the opening night for the 2020-21 season.

On the league's official Twitter account, it has been confirmed that Wednesday, December 2nd will be opening puck drop for the season. It will be a 40-game regular season, with the regular 24-team playoff format split between the 3 conferences. The 86th Sutherland Cup will be awarded no later than June 7th, 2021, with the regular season ending March 28th, 2021.

Following local health guidelines and protocols, as well as those set out by Hockey Canada, teams will have the option to hold extended on-ice sessions from September to November to prepare for the season. The GOJHL also will be working with the government and the Ontario Hockey Association to be given final approval to play.

The league also notes they will work with local government officials, public health units and arena facilities to ensure a safe return to play for players, staff and fans.
