Sarnia construction activity during pandemic showing signs of life

Construction activity has been trending higher in Sarnia the last couple of months but is still lagging behind 2019.

City hall issued 63 permits in July with a total dollar value of $9.4 million, $2 million more than July of last year.

Year-to-date, the numbers are still over $9 million behind the 2019 pace at $35.9 million.

The largest permit issued last month was for $5 million for renovations at Imperial at 602 Christina St. S.

Five permits were issued in July for single family homes for a yearly total of 32, one less than 2019 through seven months.
