UPDATE: Weather advisory calling for funnel clouds ends

Environment Canada has ended a weather advisory for Chatham-Kent and Windsor-Essex.

The national weather agency said weather conditions on Tuesday evening were favourable for funnel clouds.

"These types of funnel clouds are generated by weak rotation under rapidly growing clouds or weak thunderstorms," read the weather advisory. "This weak rotation is normally not a danger near the ground. However, there is a chance that this rotation could intensify and become a weak landspout tornado."

Although landspout tornadoes don't typically cause a significant amount of damage, they are still considered dangerous as they may cause damage to rooftops or trees to topple.

The weather advisory ended around 5:20 p.m. on Tuesday.
