Institutions like libraries and museums are starting to open their doors in Midwestern Ontario.
The Bruce County Museum & Cultural Centre in Southampton plans a gradual reopening, starting on August 10, 2020, as they open to members. The on August 24, 2020, they will open to the general public.
In a release, the museum says Bruce County continues to put public safety first and will have protocols that keep visitors and staff safe by following guidelines under Stage 3 of the Provincial framework for re-opening and the advice of Grey Bruce Public Health officials.
“Over the last several months we have all been navigating our new normal and staff have been innovating our services to stay connected and engaged with our communities. While your next experience at the BCM&CC might look a little different, you can rest assured that we remain committed to providing the same great service and memorable experiences in a safe and welcoming environment,” says Cathy McGirr, director of museum and cultural services.
Patrons are required to schedule their visit by booking online at brucemuseum.ca, and can attend at one of two time periods: 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., to limit the number of people inside at one time. Tickets will need to be printed at home, and visitors without an appointment will only be accommodated as space and time allow.
The Archives & Research Room will operate on a Tuesday to Friday schedule accessible to researchers only at this time, with two times available: 10 a.m.to 12 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Researchers who would like to visit in person will need to book their appointment ahead of time by calling 226-909-2890. There will be a maximum of one researcher permitted for each time, along with new physical distancing protocols that have been put in place.
Virtual activities and online programs will continue as well.
