50 hand sanitizers recalled by Health Canada

Health Canada has released a long list of hand sanitizers it said are not safe for use and have been recalled from the market.

It said the products contain types of ethanol and denaturants that are not acceptable for use in hand sanitizers in Canada.

The ingredients can cause adverse reactions like skin irritation and cracking, eye irritation, upper respiratory irritation, and headaches.

If you have a hand sanitizer containing the ingredients, it recommended you stop using it and call a doctor if you suffer an adverse reaction. If you experience symptoms, report it to Health Canada, and take the product to your local pharmacy for proper disposal.

There are 50 products on the list including, Kleen RX Hand Sanitizer Gel, Biogel, Clean and Green Hand Sanitizer Gel, Dermogen, Healthcare Plus Hand Sanitizer, and Upstreet Do Gooder Hand Sanitizer 800.  Some of the products list the ingredients, while others do not.

The full list is on Health Canada's website.
