If you have a loved one living at a retirement home, you will not have to prove you have tested negative for COVID-19.
The Province of Ontario updated its guidance document for retirement homes last week, and among the changes is the removal of that requirement.
Residents can also get a hair cut or shave from an in-house barber or stylist.
Potential residents can also get a tour of the facility, although they will still have to self-isolate for 14 days when they move in.
The changes for retirement homes across the province are for facilities that are not currently experiencing an outbreak of COVID-19.
Those that are in an outbreak are expected to continue restrictions on visitors.
Mandatory mask rules are still in effect whether the visit is inside the building or outside, although visitors will have to wear a surgical procedure mask if they go indoors. Visits will also be restricted to designated areas.
Those living in retirement homes are also allowed to take short trips for things like shopping and visiting family members. However, they will have to wear a mask outside the home and pass screening procedures.
