Book lovers in Dresden and Blenheim will soon get curbside service at their library branches.
Those two libraries will start curbside pickup on August 4, 2020. The libraries in Ridgetown, Tilbury, Wallaceburg and Chatham already have curbside service.
Tania Sharpe, CEO and chief librarian of Chatham-Kent Public Library (CKPL), said pickup is available outside the branch by appointment only. Those who have holds ready for pickup can visit search.ckpl.ca and search for “Curbside Service” to make an appointment. If you don’t have internet access, please call CKPL at 519-354-2940 for information.
"The health and safety of the library team and the public is important to us, so precautions are in practice to keep everyone safe," said Sharpe. "If you are unwell, CKPL asks that you cancel your appointment and keep library materials at home for a two week period."
She added library materials are quarantined for three days upon return before being reshelved. Library fines are also not being charged during curbside service.

Patrons have already picked up over 13,500 items since curbside service was launched at the Chatham branch on June 16, 2020.
