Number of COVID-19 cases rising in CK

Health officials in Chatham-Kent have reported another jump in COVID-19 cases.

The number of new cases jumped by nine on Tuesday afternoon, bringing the total number of active cases to 33. One person has recovered since Monday. Of the active cases, 32 are self-isolating and one is in the hospital in Windsor.

Chatham-Kent reported 15 new cases and three recovered cases on Monday afternoon. Local public health officials have said almost all of those cases are immediate family and close contacts of positive cases, which have been identified through contact tracing. Chatham-Kent Medical Officer of Health Dr. David Colby added there is no evidence of any significant community spread in Chatham-Kent at this time. Colby insists the risk in our community remains very low.

A total of 197 people in the Chatham area have been infected with the virus. Chatham-Kent Public Health reports no current outbreaks in the Chatham area.
