If you ride the city bus in Windsor, you will have to cover your face.
Effective immediately, face masks will be mandatory for all riding the bus or entering the Windsor International Transit Terminal.
Children under the age of two and those with a disability or medical condition that prevents the use of a face mask are exempt.
With the new rule, Transit Windsor will allow buses to run at near-normal capacity. Social distancing signs will be removed from some of the seats, and only the front area behind the driver will remain closed. That area is reserved for those in wheelchairs.
Once the bus has 20 passengers, the driver will change the external sign to read "Sorry the bus is full" and pass regular stops. Wherever possible, an additional bus will be added to the route.
As of Saturday, the Windsor International Transit Terminal will reopen so riders can reload smart cards and buy new ones.
The South Windsor 7 Route will resume a Saturday schedule Monday through Saturday, starting on Monday, July 13.
Since resuming service in early May, Transit Windsor has continuously reviewed and adapted delivery to demand. Over the past two months, it has added additional routes and buses to accommodate a modest increase in ridership.
Currently, ridership is 83 per cent lower than pre-pandemic levels.
