Municipal offices in Chatham-Kent are getting ready to gradually reopen throughout the summer.
Starting on Friday at 8:30 a.m., the Civic Centre in Chatham will reopen to the public as part of a soft-launch. However, it's only to allow residents to make tax payments if they are uncomfortable with placing documents into the secure dropbox or need to make a debit payment.
Municipal offices in Chatham-Kent have been closed to the public for nearly four months in an effort to reduce the spread of COVID-19. Now with offices set to reopen, residents will notice some changes.
Anyone who goes inside of the Civic Centre should expect to be asked COVID-19 screening questions and use hand sanitizer at the entrance.
In order to ensure safety, counter guards have been installed and physical distancing floor markers are also in place. Residents will also only be allowed in the atrium area.
Regular office hours of Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. will begin on July 13. Also starting on Monday, licensing services will become available.
Residents who require services such as marriage licences or building permits are asked to schedule an appointment at 519-360-1998 or [email protected].
After the Civic Centre successfully reopens, the Chatham ServiceOntario office on Grand Avenue is then expected to reopen on July 20. Following that, the Dresden Municipal Office and ServiceOntario counter are scheduled to open on August 4.
The remaining municipal offices are expected to reopen by the end of August.
