Farm outbreaks 'under control' says Dr. Ahmed

The Medical Officer of Health for Windsor Essex says he is confident in the decision to move Leamington and Kingsville to Stage 2 of reopening as the agri-farm outbreaks are being contained.

"The community cases are pretty much comparable to what we are seeing in the rest of Windsor and Essex," said Dr. Wajid Ahmed. "Based on that information and with the additional support from the province in containing these agri-farm outbreaks it seems like it is well under control."

The Windsor Essex County Health Unit reported six new cases of COVID-19 in Windsor-Essex on Tuesday.

Among the new cases, two are linked to Michigan, one is a farmworker, two are community cases, and one is still under investigation.

There are currently outbreaks at five workplaces in Leamington and Kingsville.

To date the region has seen 1,678 cases of COVID-19, 1038 cases have now recovered.
