The Captain Garnet Bracken Chapter of the IODE in Chatham is investing in both Chatham-Kent's present and its future.
The local group recently announced its 2020 bursary winners with $500 going to five local students.
Emmi Timmermans of Chatham-Kent Secondary School, Tamar VanEyk of John McGregor Secondary School, Teresa Allison of Ursuline College Chatham, Noah Coolen of Chatham Christian High, and Ashlee White of Ecole Secondaire de Pain Court were all selected this year.
The local IODE chapter also recently donated $600 to the R.O.C.K. Missions to supply food and needed clothing for homeless people in Chatham and it gave some food supplies to the Victoria Avenue United Church Outreach Program for their Wednesday soup kitchen, which is distributing food to those in need.
In addition to those donations, IODE member Dianne Blonde Pinkerton made 170 masks for people who were receiving food donations.
