Windsor-Essex COVID-19 case count exceeds 1,000

Windsor-Essex now has over 1,000 confirmed cases of COVID-19.

The case count hit 1,009 on Saturday, according to the Windsor-Essex County Health Unit. Ten new cases were reported from Friday to Saturday.

Although 10 new cases were reported, 10 additional cases were also listed as being resolved on Saturday. The total number of individuals who have recovered from the virus in the Windsor region since the pandemic began is now at 577.

One new death was reported on Saturday, a 24-year-old migrant worker. This marks the second migrant worker to die from COVID-19 in the region and the 67th death overall.

As a result, the Windsor-Essex County Health Unit announced it's working in collaboration with provincial, regional and local partners to support increased COVID-19 testing within the local agri-food sector.
