Local physicians receive national awards

Three local physicians have been awarded a prestigious honour.

Dr. H Susan McArthur of Walkerton, Dr. Megan Grigg of Wiarton and Dr. Timothy Heerema of Hanover have all received the Fellowship of Rural and Remote Medicine award this year. The awards are handed out yearly by the Society of Rural Physicians of Canada (SRPC). It is to provide recognition of excellent work being done in rural communities over a number of years.

The Society of Rural Physicians of Canada was founded in 1992, and usually hosts an Annual Rural and Remote Medicine course every spring where the awards are handed out live. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 28th annual event was cancelled and the awards were given out virtually.
