Shopper assaulted after not following arrows in grocery store

A 29-year-old Chatham woman is facing charges after allegedly attacking a shopper at a local grocery store who wasn't following COVID-19 guidelines.

Police said the woman was at the grocery store at the same time as the victim and allegedly assaulted her for not following social distancing rules or the arrows that were on the floor.

Officers said once the woman was outside, she allegedly saw the victim taking a picture of her vehicle, so she allegedly pushed a grocery cart towards her.

The accused was arrested and charged with assault and assault with a weapon. She was later released with a future court date.
