12 new COVID-19 cases in Windsor-Essex

The Windsor-Essex County Health Unit is reporting another slight increase in the number of COVID-19 cases in the region.

A total of 12 new cases were reported on Sunday, bringing the total number to 968.

The number of people that recovered from the virus remained stagnant, still sitting at 496. As of Sunday afternoon, 230 of the cases are listed as self-isolating, 16 are hospitalized and 162 case statuses are listed as being unknown.

There were however once again no new deaths related to the virus reported on Sunday. Since the pandemic began, 63 Windsor-Essex residents have passed away as a result of COVID-19.

A total of 16,902 people have been tested so far in the region and 638 results are currently pending.

Meanwhile, the province reported a 1.2 per cent increase in cases on Sunday, bringing the total case count in Ontario to 27,859.
