The medical officer of health at the Windsor-Essex County Health Unit, Dr. Wajid Ahmed, said the man in his 30s did not recently travel outside Canada, a departure from the four previous cases in the region.
The man was in Toronto when he started to show symptoms on March 15, and was tested in that city.
He lives in Windsor but is currently self-isolating in Toronto.
