The Listowel BIA is doing what they can to support the local business community during very difficult times.
The COVID-19 outbreak is already having a big effect on local businesses, and Listowel BIA Coordinator Lisa Schaefer said the BIA has had to cancel a number of high profile local events.
"We have some Paddyfest events that we were supporting and promoting, and of course, Paddyfest has been put on hold. Some of the items have been postponed, hopefully, as we are hoping to do it later when this is all over."
Schaefer said at a time like this, supporting your local businesses is extremely important.
"Our business community is the backbone of our community and they enrich our community daily. Shopping locally during this time, it's more than a good idea. It's a necessity to help keep our businesses and our community prosperous."
That includes potentially new businesses from this year's Win This Space contest, which has yet to get underway, and Schaefer said they will be discussing what to do in the next week.
"So we are still accepting applications, but we're going to be making a decision in the next few weeks, whether or not we will continue as is, or if we will postpone to a later date."
