Third case of COVID-19 confirmed in Windsor-Essex

The Windsor Essex County Health Unit has confirmed a third person in the region has tested positive for COVID-19.

The man in his late 40s had recently returned to Windsor after travelling in the United States.  He developed symptoms on March 15 and was tested at the Windsor Regional Hospital Assessment Centre. The case is not connected to the previous two cases confirmed in the region.

All close contacts of the man have been contacted and have been advised to self-isolate but are not currently showing any symptoms.  The individual works in Michigan but lives in the area.  The Windsor Essex County Health Unit has been in contact with public health authorities in Michigan to contact individuals considered close contacts living outside of Windsor Essex.

In total, 383 people in Windsor-Essex have been tested for the virus. There have been three positive cases and 116 negative cases. The health unit is waiting on the results of 264 tests.
