In an effort to limit the spread of COVID-19, Chatham-Kent Council will hold its first electronic meeting on Monday.
The council meeting will technically start at 5:45 p.m., following the Ontario Legislature’s passage of The Municipal Emergency Act 2020, which will allow for electronic meetings.
Chatham-Kent Clerk Judy Smith said the extremely short time between the province’s approval and the scheduled council meeting is a challenge.
“We hope to refine the process for future meetings but given the concerns regarding COVID-19 and the limited time frame we have to deal with the issue, it’s the best we can do right now,” she said in a statement.
Regular council matters will be addressed at 6 p.m. The council agenda can be found by clicking, here.
Residents who would like to have a deputation on an item are encouraged to contact the municipality at ckclerk@chatham-kent.ca or call the clerk’s office at 519-360-1998.
The meeting will be live-streamed via the municipal Facebook and YouTube pages. It will also be live-streamed on the YourTV Facebook page.
