CK Transit to reduce services

Due to a "severe decline in ridership" amid the COVID-19 pandemic, CK Transit will be altering its services, effective March 21.

Until further notice, Routes 1-4 will only be operational Monday-Saturday, from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. on a 60-minute schedule. Routes 1 and 2 will depart the downtown Chatham terminal. After the first run, Route 1 will then complete Route 3, while Route 2 completes Route 4.

Route 5 is suspended. Route 1 will pick up passengers in front of the hospital and courthouse.

The recently launched CK Transit On-Request program will also be suspended.

The 6:45 p.m. departure for Inter-Urban Routes A, C, and D will be suspended. The Chatham and Wallaceburg Accessible hours will also be reduced to Monday-Saturday from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m.

Should the situation surrounding COVID-19 evolve, municipal officials said further adjustments to transit services may need to be made.

Residents who feel ill are still encouraged to not take public transit. Sanitization measures on CK Transit have been ramped up during this time.
