Long-running music festival cancelled due to COVID-19

This certainly isn't music to anyone's ears.

The 91st annual Lambton County Music Festival scheduled for April 20 to May 1 has been cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Judy Inch, the president of the Lambton County Music Festival executive board, made the announcement in a news release Thursday afternoon.

"In cooperation with the local and national precautions and closures regarding COVID 19, the Lambton County Music Festival has made the difficult decision to cancel the 2020 festival," said Inch.  "The health and safety of our participants, teachers, adjudicators, public audience, board members and many volunteers is of the utmost importance. We would like to thank everyone for your ongoing support of the music festival. We look forward to seeing you next year!"

The festival is the longest-running in Canada.
