Third case of COVID-19 confirmed in Grey, Bruce

A third case of COVID-19 has been lab-confirmed in Grey Bruce.

Grey Bruce Medical Officer of Health Dr. Ian Arra says in a release on March 18, 2020 that the case was confirmed in a 61-year-old resident of Grey Bruce, and the virus was acquired as a result of international travel.

The individual in question reported to a local hospital with symptoms, and has since been discharged and is self-isolating at home. The release further states that hospital staff took necessary precautions in dealing with the case, and the Grey Bruce Health Unit is investigating any potential contacts this person may have had.

The first two cases were identified several days ago.

The Grey Bruce Health Unit reminds all residents who are returning from international travel and become ill with respiratory symptoms such as a cough and fever should report their travel history to any health professional, or any emergency room before they visit.
