Ontario Finance Minister Rod Phillips says his government will announce the next steps in its financial plan on March 25.
"This year's budget will demonstrate progress on the government's plan to put the province back on sound financial footing, create the conditions for business to grow and create jobs, and make smart investments in key priorities," said a statement from Phillips.
The government said it still plans to balance the budget by 2023-2024.
Back in January, the provincial deficit was forecasted to be $9 billion for the year. That is down $1.3 billion from the 2019 budget projection.
The government said it has heard from more than 5,000 people and organizations, including 28 in-person consultations in 26 communities.
