Clark, Vaive, Thomas among Leaf alumni headed to Wallaceburg

A Wallaceburg Minor Hockey Association fundraiser will feature a handful of Toronto Maple Leafs alumni.

Players including Wendel Clark, Al Iafrate, Gary Leeman, and Steve Thomas will be taking on some former Wallaceburg Lakers players in a fun game.

Wallaceburg Minor Hockey spokesman Mike Moniz said the money will be put to good use.

"We've got a dedicated group of board members here that are doing our best to close the gap between the true cost of hockey, which includes the ice cost, registration, and referees, and what we actually charge the parents and families. Beyond just the money raised, we're really trying to make this a good community event."

Other players on the Leafs squad include Rick Vaive, Lou Franceschetti, Rick Nattress, Matt Martin, Mark LaForest, and Christian Thomas.

General admission tickets are $30. Platinum tickets are also available for $150. They include a VIP meet and greet, premium seating, food and drinks.

Moniz said there will be a raffle for Leafs tickets, a 50/50 draw, a visit from Carleton the Bear, and signed jerseys up for auction.

The game is on March 7 at the Wallaceburg Memorial Arena. Puck drop will be at 2 p.m., with doors opening at around 1 p.m.
