Wallaceburg Community Roundtable facilitating substance abuse discussion

A pair of community organizations in Wallaceburg are teaming up to shine a brighter light on substance abuse issues in the area.

The Wallaceburg Community Roundtable is partnering with the Wallaceburg Neighbourhood Watch to host a roundtable meeting titled, "An Evening of Education and Awareness of Substance Use" at Trinity United Church on Wellington Street in Wallaceburg on Wednesday, February 5.

The meeting starts at 7 p.m. and is set to open with a summary of the information that was presented at a recent Neighbourhood Watch meeting on January 16.

Chatham-Kent's police chief Gary Conn, East Side Pride founder and local municipal councillor Marjorie Crew, and Chatham-Kent's general manager of community development and chief legal officer John Norton all spoke at that meeting in January -- discussing issues like community safety and crime and how to respond proactively.

After recapping the results of that meeting, Wednesday's roundtable will feature two guest speakers who have personal experiences with substance abuse. Those speakers will be followed up with a question and answer period.
