Chatham has a new pizza place.
The Oven 360 restaurant opened on St. Clair Street near Brock Street on Thursday.
Lovers of Oven 360's wood-fired pizza were driving to Windsor to eat their favourite pie and owner Sam Tortola said he decided to open a location in Chatham to save them the trouble. Tortola said he's not done yet and wants to open a second store in Chatham because it has been a pleasure doing business here.
Tortola said Oven 360 is more of an experience because all of their products are imported from Italy.
"All authentic ingredients and you create your own pizza. So, it's a little more of a visual experience and the product was invented by a master pizza maker from Italy and it's probably the best pizza experience you'll have this side of the Atlantic," said Tortola.
Roslyn, a patron at the new pizzeria, said her pizza was excellent and she highly recommends it.
"I'm very picky when it comes to my crust and it was delicious. The full slices of bacon amazing," she said.
Mike, another visitor to the restaurant, said the wood fire oven makes a big difference in the dough and the flavour.
"Excellent pizza, the crust and the dough have a good chew to it, the sauce is awesome and the toppings are great. Lots of choices, it's good. Nice thin crust, quick-fire pizza, it's great," he said.
Oven 360 also has several locations across Windsor-Essex. Tortola owns another Oven 360 restaurant in Windsor.
Each location also serves paninis and gelato.
