Olivia just might be the name of the decade

If you had a baby this past year, there is a chance the name you chose was picked by a lot of other people too.

The Ontario government has released its list of the most popular baby names for 2018.

For girls, Olivia tops the list again. A release from the government said it could even be the name of the decade. Between January 2010 and December 2018, 8,300 baby girls were named Olivia.

The top five names have remained the same since 2017.

The second most popular name was Emma, followed by Charlotte, Amelia, and Ava. Sophia, Evelyn, Mia, Emily, and Chloe rounded out the top ten.

For boys, the most popular names were Liam, followed by Noah, Lucas, William, and Benjamin. The rest on the list were Ethan, Logan, Oliver, Jacob, and James.

William has been a top name for baby boys since 1917.

Ontario has been collecting data on the most popular baby names for a century.
