Chatham man drops knives and his pants during drugged up break-in

A Chatham man is facing several charges after allegedly dropping his drawers and touching a woman inappropriately after breaking into her apartment.

Police said the man and the woman do not know each other.

The incident took place Tuesday morning and officers allege the man was under the influence of illicit drugs at the time.

Investigators allege the man walked into the woman's apartment in Chatham without her permission and asked if he could use her washroom.

While he was inside the apartment, the man allegedly sat on the woman's couch, put two kitchen knives on the table, pulled his pants down -- exposing himself -- and touched the woman inappropriately.

Police said the woman was able to get the man out of her residence, but not out of the building. Officers were called in to help out and arrested the man a short time later.

A 36-year-old Chatham man was charged with several criminal code offences and taken into custody pending a bail hearing.
