A goalie with the Niagara IceDogs has been seriously injured after suffering cut to his leg from a skate during a game against the London Knights.
IceDogs goaltender Tucker Tynan suffered the injury early in the second period after colliding with a London player on Thursday at the Meridian Centre in St. Catharines. The game was quickly postponed after the 17-year-old was assessed by trainers and paramedics, and was seen bleeding profusely.
The IceDogs reported at around 11:30 p.m. on Thursday that Tynan had undergone surgery and was in stable condition in hospital.
"In consideration of the player, staff and spectators and given the serious nature of the injury to Niagara goaltender Tucker Tynan, the game has been postponed and will be rescheduled a later date," the Ontario Hockey League said in a statement.
The IceDogs said more information about Tynan's condition will be provided once he is out of surgery.
Tickets for Thursday's game will either be refunded or can be exchanged for the rescheduled game.
