Maroons visit Leamington for Flyers' Teddy Bear Toss

The Chatham Maroons are heading to Leamington for the first time this season Thursday.

It'll be a tough test for the Maroons as they try to extend their win streak to three games after beating Komoka and Strathroy over the weekend.

The Flyers are currently second place in the GOJHL's Western Conference with 41 points through 27 games -- the Maroons are in fifth with 27 points through 26 games. The Flyers have also experienced a lot of success on their home ice so far this season, going 12-2-0-0 at Highbury Canco Arena.

The teams have only met once so far this season (a 5-4 Flyers win in Chatham on Nov. 24), but that will quickly change as Thursday night marks the start of a home-and-home series with the Maroons -- Chatham will host Leamington Sunday night.

There's a softer side to the longstanding rivalry this time around as the Flyers hold their annual Teddy Bear Toss Thursday and the Maroons hold their Teddy Bears and Toys night at Memorial Arena Sunday. The Maroons game will support the Chatham Goodfellows' "No Child Without A Christmas" while the Flyers will be collecting donations for Toys for Tots.

You can hear tonight’s game on-air on Country 92.9FM/ 630 AM CFCO or online by clicking here.

Puck drop is set for 7:10 p.m.
