Drunk man taken into police custody 

A man in Chatham had to spend some time with police after having one too many to drink.

Officers responded to a call around 8 p.m. Friday about an intoxicated man who was walking down the middle of Wellington Street East.

When police located the 56-year-old, they deemed that he was unable to care for himself. He was taken to police headquarters and held until sober.

Shed damaged at school

Police are looking for additional information about some mischief in Chatham.

It happened on Friday when police were dispatched to the Alexandra Avenue area for reports of mischief. A storage shed at Victor Lauriston Public School had been broken into overnight and damaged.

Traffic blitz

On Friday, traffic enforcement was conducted on Longwoods Road and McNaughton Avenue East, in Chatham. A total of six drivers were charged with speeding over the posted road speeds.
