Long weekend keeps Chatham-Kent police occupied

The Chatham-Kent Police Service was busy on the roads and waterways over the August long weekend.

Just one person was charged with impaired driving, but eight temporary licence suspensions were issued for alcohol or drug-related offences.

150 motorists were charged with speeding, three people were charged with seatbelt infractions, and 39 other traffic-related offences were issued.

One driver was charged with distracted driving, one was charged with stunt driving, and three other criminal charges were laid.

Over 600 vehicles were stopped at multiple RIDE checks throughout Chatham-Kent.

On the water, 25 vessels were stopped and inspected, and four offences were found. Two for speeding and two for document infractions.
